Part or All of a Required Minimum Distribution From an IRA
If you are age 72 or older, you may make your gift to Annual Giving with all or part of your yearly Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from an IRA. To do so, contact your broker and arrange for the funds to be distributed directly to BPSI. (You should not take the RMD and then make the donation.) You will not be able to take this contribution as a charitable deduction on your income tax return, but this contribution will not be included in your Adjusted Gross Income. This procedure may result in both tax savings and a reduction in the amount you pay for a Medicare Part B premium, which is based on AGI.
